2. Give one example of a film genre and list the typical codes and conventions for that genre.
Horror - closes ups, POV shots, shrill violin sounds, atmospheric, dark, blood, weapons (blunt, handheld etc)
3. Take your favourite film, or a film you have recently watched. State the genre of the film and explain some of the codes and conventions used that make it recognisable as belonging to the genre stated.
The good the bad and the ugly - western
It features all the typical images you expect to see in a western, cowboy hats, horses, handguns, desert landscapes...
The film also features technical aspects usually associated with this genre, over the shoulder shots (for standoffs/duels), close ups on hands and eyes to create tension.
